Crescent Valley Eco Lodge is nestled in the peaceful, sheltered Crescent Valley, in a central yet secluded location on the beautiful Waiheke Island. Located between Palm Beach and Onetangi, two of the best beaches on the island and not far from the boutique vineyards, arts & crafts and local produce market.
With sun drenched decks and a restful bush setting it is great for weekends or a longer holiday and is a great base from which to explore Waiheke Island
|
|
The lodge is a food lovers dream as hosts Dave and Sue also run Island Indulgence (catering services) offering beautiful meals using produce grown in the lodge's own organic gardens. One of the pleasures of the Lodge are the delicious continental breakfasts which can be taken indoors or outside in the peaceful country garden setting. These are included in the room rate and include home baked bread, fresh fruit platter, homemade muesli and preserves made from the eco gardens (this can be upgraded to a full cooked version that includes the famous Waiheke made sausages for a small surcharge).
Dinner can be provided upon request and three-course evening meals are an additional option.

Our Eco Policies:
Long before we took over the Eco Lodge on Waiheke Island this property had been built using as many recycled and environmentally conscious materials as possible, so not only can you feel good staying a place that has not impacted on the environment, but its got character too! Today we continue the eco theme with an emphasis on our organic gardens and making as much as we can from the fruit, vegetables and herbs. As caterers we can offer you home grown and home made meals from the Eco lodge, we are aiming to produce as much as possible from our own gardens, to compliment this we have sourced a supply of line caught Tuna and Barracuda and Wild Alaskan Red Salmon that come from a well-managed and sustainable source. We try to monitor energy consumption to decrease if possible and also implement energy saving practices whenever possible, for example:
- The Eco Lodge has been built using recycled materials
- By using low energy, efficient fridges
- Changing our light bulbs to the low energy compact fluorescent bulbs
- Guests' towels are not changed daily except on request
- Appliances are not left on standby when the rooms are vacant
- Effective Infra Red over head heating in the communal areas operated on a timer system
- All laundry is line dried whenever possible
- Water Conservation, a topic close to our hearts as we collect only rainwater
- We only operate the dishwasher and washing machines when full.
- Toilets are fitted with half flush button and all sinks have plugs
- Signage requesting guests not to run the tap constantly while brushing their teeth
- We have showers not baths
- We use a front loading washing machine with an eco friendly detergent and then recycle that water to irrigate our veggie patch
- We aim to grow as much as possible from our own gardens and buy locally grown organic produce whenever possible.
- We provide eco friendly toiletries (shampoo/shower gel/soap) in dispensers in our bathrooms so not only cutting down
on waste packaging we also know what is going into our septic.
- We reduce the use of our office consumables where possible; we reuse A4 paper when only used on one side and save electronic copies instead of paper ones whenever possible.
- All kitchen scraps and garden waste is composted, we use both the traditional method and also the Bokashi system; the compost is then added to our veggie garden.
- Cans, glass, plastics and cardboard are all recycled (recycling bins are also provided for our guest accommodation).
