The Auckland Area

Auckland, "City of Sails", is located on a narrow isthmus of land between the sparkling waters of the Waitemata and Manukau harbours.
Built on the Auckland Volcanic Field which consists of about 48 volcanoes
Auckland has beautiful scenery with lovely beaches, subtropical forests on the nearby hills, good food and wine.
The holiday islands of Waiheke Island and Great Barrier Island are easily reached by ferry or boat.
 Auckland is also a shoppers paradise and has a nightlife not to be missed.
New Zealand's largest city with a population of 1.3 million people and
a large Polynesian population adding their own cultural influence to the city,
Auckland is composed of four separate cities, Manukau city in the south, Waitakere city in the west,
North Shore city in the north with Auckland Harbour bridge connecting North Shore to Auckland city at the centre.

Swimming, water sports and yachting are some of the main activities and especially the sight of yachts
on the surrounding harbours have given Auckland its name “City of Sails”.
The America's Cup races were held in Auckland from 1995 to 2000
has this has added exciting new restaurants and bars to the harbour area.
