New Zealand's natural landscape and seascape have become an
invaluable influence on the practice of Art Jeweller Brittany Sue Mason.
Originally from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, Mason arrived in New Zealand
to complete her studies at the Dunedin School of Art.

Her practice is concerned with an appreciation for the environment,
focusing on the many tiny structures and textures of the organic world.
She aims to achieve sustainability though materials used.
The silver sourced for the castings is recycled rather than new,
thus making less impact on the environment.

The preciousness of the natural world is captured in a series of replicas of found objects from nature. These are cast in solid stirling silver, exemplifying the value of even the smallest life form, within the vastness of the world's eco systems. When worn, these unique items will maintain a connection between wearer and place. While beautiful, they serve as a reminder of environmental fragility and question our relationship with the natural world.

Brittany has since settled on the Otago Peninsula, Dunedin.
She has opened her own studio/gallery located in central Portobello village.
Here, she creates and sells her fine silver jewellery.
